About Matter of Interpretation
All language assignments are executed by the translator and state authorised interpreter Elke Hockings BMus (Hons), DipTrans IoL, DPSI. In this way, Matter of Interpretation can guarantee consistent terminology, short lines of communication and individual service. Before setting up this translation and interpreting business, Elke Hockings was involved in music research (Leipzig Universität, University of Queensland, King’s College London) and gained substantial experience in the music industry, particularly during her years as promotion manager of the Anglo-Austrian music publisher Universal Edition (London). There she also had her first encounter with copyright law and contracts. Elke Hockings holds a Diploma in Translation as well as a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (English law) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London. For the latter, she studied the language of English and German law. She has since translated legal texts and interpreted in courts. In Sweden, she qualified as a paralegal and gained some work experience at a law firm in Gothenburg. She also passed the International Legal English exam organised by the University of Cambridge ESOL. In November 2011, she passed the authorisation exam for interpreters (German-Swedish) organised by the Swedish State Agency for Legal, Financial and Administrative Services [Kammarkollegiet]. As a full member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, Sveriges Facköversättarförening and the ADÜ Nord, she subscribes to the respective Codes of Professional Conduct and is committed to Continuous Professional Development. |
